This spring has seen a major installation take place in Unit 35 resulting in our own in-house packaging machinery being installed. Incorporating two box making lines, an e-gluer and a 3D scanner, this installation will revolutionise how we pack as a company and the processes that occur.
Based on ‘Just in Time’ the factory and warehousing will benefit immensely. No more pallets of unwanted corrugated in the wrong place and no more incorrectly sized packaging with void fill or polystyrene added to make up the difference. Our ongoing plans are to continue to reduce external purchases of packaging as we sample from start to finish all existing boxes, wraps and end caps.
Unit 35 has been transformed into our box making facility with Tim Pickford and Tony Rice heading up the operation. Our intention of course is to control all of our own box production with packaging manufactured to the correct size in line with customer demands and expectations. As so often the case, corrugated packaging can be taken for granted – never anymore than with this level of investment we believe future proofing has occurred.
