Dexreco – We take the hassle out of WEEE for you!

Dextra Group plc. offers a free recycling service to its clientele.

Dexreco Ltd., a registered AATF, caters for all luminaire disposal needs quickly and efficiently via our established UK logistic network; a responsibility that the end client can do without. Using Dextra Group’s liveried fleet of vehicles, complete with manitous and tail lifts Dexreco are able to offer complete flexibility to collect redundant lighting from site at our client’s convenience.  Virtually all collections are made by Dextra Group vehicles on a “back load” meaning that instead of a vehicle returning empty after making a delivery, it will stop off and make a collection on its return journey. This effectively halves the amount of carbon pollution caused by the transportation of the end of life luminaires.

Over 95% of collected products are recycled or reused, ensuring that harmful substances such as mercury are disposed of properly.  Not only does this reduce landfill disposal, but also reduces the energy required to produce future materials.

In 2015, Dexreco successfully recycled 800 tonnes of end of life lighting, helping over 250 companies with their WEEE.  In the first quarter of 2015, 563 tonnes have already been recycled.  Due to the influx of WEEE collections and recycling, Dexreco have invested in a new, wrap around steel baler that produces large volumes of small, clean steel bales.  The baler can crush steel with a force of 240 tonnes. This means that a whole pallet of steel can be compacted down to a cube less the 600mm sq. These dimensions are important because that is the maximum size that the steel foundries will except and therefore no further processing is required by them.  The baler is remote controlled, thus meaning a single operator can both load the machine with a special forklift with rotating forks and control the baler.
